In an adult male cadaver, during routine Anatomy dissection, we found a common cord instead of usual medial cord and lateral cord in the right brachial plexus. This common cord gave a branch to coracobrachialis, lateral and medial roots of the median nerve, ulnar nerve, medial cutaneous nerve of arm and forearm and single branch to pectoral muscles. Median nerve gave a branch in the arm to supply biceps brachii, brachialis muscle and continued as lateral cutaneous nerve of forearm. The right axillary artery was also found variant. Its first usual branch, i.e., superior thoracic artery aroused from second part instead of first part of the axillary artery. An additional branch from its second part supplied the pectoralis minor muscle. An additional trunk from second part divided into the lateral thoracic artery and also supplied the subscapularis muscle. Because of clinical significance, knowledge of such possible variations may be obliging for physicians and radiologists.

متن کاملEmbryological Basis And Clinical Importance of the Variant Branching Pattern of the Axillary Artery
The arterial pattern of the upper limb is one of the systems that display many variations in the adult human body. Accurate information regarding these variations is important during vascular & reconstructive surgery and also in evaluation of angiographic images. Axillary artery is the direct continuation of the subclavian artery from the outer border of the first rib. The course of the axillar...

A case of anomalous terminal branching of the axillary artery, concerning the variant called superficial brachioradial artery (arteria brachioradialis superficialis) was described, with special regard to its embryological origin. The left upper limb of a male cadaver was dissected in successive steps from the axillary fossa distally to the palmar region. A variant artery, stemming from the end ...

Axillary artery, the continuation of the Subclavian artery, initiates at the lateral border of the first rib and normally ends at the lower border of teres major, where it obtains the name of brachial artery. Variations in the branching pattern of the axillary artery are common. During a routine dissection of a 25-30-year-old man cadaver, based on the classic Grant’s method, in the Department o...
